What stays on your Mac, what Xeneric sends and to whom, encryption, the Touch ID lock and Offline mode.
What stays on your Mac#
Everything Xeneric stores stays on your Mac:
- Settings, clipboard history (the newest 300 texts), conversations and cached rewrites (kept 7 days).
- Terminal tabs, the drop shelf and what you wrote in Dashboard → You.
- Your OpenAI key, account session and MCP secrets, in the macOS Keychain.
Apps, files, the clipboard, the terminal, FreeUp, the mixer, Lens, Draw and local MCP servers run on your Mac.

Clap to wake checks only sound levels on your Mac; nothing is recorded. The pet reads only names of running programs. The Lens shows the screen around the pointer and records nothing.
Encryption#
Chats, clipboard history, terminal tabs, the drop shelf and what you wrote in You are encrypted with a key kept in your Keychain (item “com.techsolace.xeneric”, account “data-key”). Dashboard → Privacy shows Encrypted on this Mac.
Touch ID lock#
- Require Touch ID
- Touch ID or your Mac's password before the Dashboard, chat history or clipboard history show. Locks again when the screen locks, the Mac sleeps, or after the idle time.
- Hide Xeneric when you step away
- Every Xeneric window hides, and the lock closes, when the screen locks or after the idle time.
- Clear clipboard history when the screen locks
- Text you copied is forgotten each time you lock your Mac.
- Delete old chats
- Conversations older than 7, 30 or 90 days are deleted when Xeneric starts and once a day.
Offline mode#
Offline mode (Dashboard → Privacy, or the menu-bar menu): nothing leaves this Mac. No AI answers or voice, news, weather, web search, links or remote MCP servers. Apps, files, the clipboard, the terminal and local MCP servers keep working. Your account isn't checked while it's on.
Delete your data#
- Dashboard → Data: clear clipboard history, conversations or saved writing, or Reset all settings.
- To delete your account and its data on our side, email [email protected]. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
