Xeneric bar
Press ⌥Space anywhere to search apps, emoji, your clipboard and Google, or ask Xeneric.
Open the bar#
Press ⌥Space in any app. A glass bar opens on the desktop and display you're on. Press Esc to hide it. You can also open it from the Search item in the left-edge rail.
What you can find#
- Apps, found as you type (fuzzy matching, so a few letters are enough).
- Emoji: typing “fire” suggests 🔥 among the results. Start with : to search emoji only.
- Clipboard history: text you copied shows up when it matches. Passwords are skipped.
- Google: pick “Search Google”, or press ⌘↵.
- Xeneric's tools: for example, type “storage” to open FreeUp.
Ask Xeneric#
Keep typing past the results and press ↵ to ask Xeneric. The answer streams into the bar and the chat continues there. Tap the mic to ask out loud (Voice). ⌘K clears the conversation. How the AI works is in AI assistant.
