Write Anywhere and the typing companion
Write or rewrite text in any app: a “Talk with Xeneric” bubble beside the text box, or ⌥⇧Space.
The typing companion#
Click into any text box, in any app, and a small Talk with Xeneric button appears beside it. Speak or type what you want (“make this friendlier”, “reply that I'll be late”), then insert or replace. Xeneric reads the conversation on screen so replies fit the chat, including WhatsApp and web apps, and follows your writing style from Dashboard → You.
Write with Xeneric (⌥⇧Space)#
⌥⇧Space writes or rewrites text in the app you're using, for example the text you've selected. Use it in apps that hide their text box from the companion.
What it reads#
Both need the Accessibility permission to see the text box and insert text. Text is only read or written when you ask, and password fields are always ignored. Rewrites are cached on your Mac for 7 days so repeats are instant (clear them in Dashboard → Data).
Turn it off#
Switch off Typing companion in Dashboard → General, or use the Writing companion item in the left-edge rail, which shows whether it's on.
